The first time we met was in 1998. We were both working at Montgomery Wards in Duluth when he introduced himself to me. It was just that one day. The second time we met was in 2003 when I started attending Hermantown Community Church. We didn't talk to one another until the end of 2005, and our first date wasn't until April 9, 2006.

Thor proposed April 9 of this year while we were on vacation with his family in Naples, Fla. The first day of our vacation was our one-year anniversary, and everyone had gone down to the ocean to watch the sunset. As the two of us were walking along the shore looking at seashells, he placed the engagement ring in a seashell he had brought from home. He said, "Look at this seashell. Look what's inside!" As I was getting over the shock of seeing a diamond ring in the shell, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I said, "Well, of course I'll marry you!" It was a great start to a wonderful vacation.
