Weather worked out
The entire week leading up to the wedding, the forecast indicated it was going to be a terrible weekend with high winds and freezing rain. Friday night after the groom's dinner in Grand Marais, we followed some friends and family up to Grand Portage, where they were staying. The drive, which is only 35 miles, was one of the worst drives either of us had ever been through. The rain was coming down sideways, and the visibility was next to nothing. We thought this would continue through the weekend, and although it was snowing when we woke up on Saturday (yes, snow in May!), by the start of the wedding, the sky was blue and the sun was shining. It turned out to be a fantastic evening!
