Have you made it to this year’s Duluth boat show to watch Twiggy the water-skiing squirrel?
You still have the chance, today or Sunday.
LouAnn Best of Florida has been training a series of “Twiggys” for 37 years now. They’re all squirrels that were rescued.
How do you teach a squirrel to ride a pair of miniature water skis behind a remote-controlled boat, amid the noise and commotion of a crowd?
“You just have to give them lots of love and affection and tell them the same thing over and over - just like a husband,” Best quipped.
Best said it takes about a year to get a squirrel ready to perform. The boat show continues from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. today, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
