Virtuoso pianist Spencer Myer has won bags of awards for his playing, and also has garnered stunning reviews.
Matinee Musicale, preserving its 100-year-old tradition of bringing the best of young performers to Duluth just before they become world-famous, offers a concert with Myers at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Mitchell Auditorium at the College of St. Scholastica. He'll play a diverse program: Igor Stravinski's "Four Etudes," Frederick Chopin's "Four Ballades," and Beethoven's Sonata in F-sharp major.
Matinee Musicale has set up a shuttle bus service running from the lower parking lot near the entrance gate up to Mitchell, so you needn't hunt for a parking space. Tickets at the door cost $18 for adults and $6 for students.
For the hard-core among you, Myer also is conducting a free master class for young pianists that's open to the public. He'll listen to the young musicians' selections from 3-5 p.m. Sunday at Eastridge Church, 3727 W. Arrowhead Road. Call 724-8115.
