A Duluth man was sentenced Monday to more than 16 years in prison for a July 2017 shooting.
Joshua Leigh Miller, 25, was convicted by a jury in August on charges of attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault and first-degree burglary.
The charges stemmed from a violent home invasion in the Lincoln Park neighborhood on July 9, 2017. Authorities said Miller was among a group that confronted a 34-year-old woman, apparently after being shorted in a drug deal the day before.
According to court documents, Miller shot the woman while she was attempting to flee her home on the 2100 block of West Sixth Street. A bullet was recovered from the victim’s arm and she underwent surgery for non-life-threatening injuries.
Miller received the 200-month prison sentence from 6th Judicial District Judge Eric Hylden.
