Two Duluth men were charged this week with first-degree burglary after a man reportedly caught them in the act of burglarizing his parents' home and recognized one as his cousin.
Ryan Deoraj, 22, and Krzystow Tatarowicz, 24, were arrested Sunday morning after a 911 caller reported a burglary in progress at a residence in the 300 block of East Seventh Street about 10:30 a.m., according to a release from the Duluth Police Department.
The caller had stopped by the house of his parents, who were not home, and went inside. He heard voices in the basement and found several items thrown around the house. He went outside to call 911.
An officer arrived and saw two people carrying duffle bags running from the house, according to police. After a short foot chase, the officer apprehended Deoraj. The 911 caller knocked Tatarowicz to the ground and recognized him as his cousin, who lives across the street. Tatarowicz ran off, but was arrested a short time later at Second Avenue East and Superior Street.
Officers found stolen cameras, jewelry and several computers in the duffle bags that Deoraj and Tatarowicz allegedly ran out of the house with.
