A 49-year-old man was injured Friday when he tried to get off an attraction at Spirit Mountain before the ride had ended.
Jarry Keppers, Duluth acting assistant fire chief, said the accident occurred at 1:13 p.m., when the man tried to get off the Timber Twister near the top of the hill. The car ran over the man's leg, and it was caught under the car, Keppers said. "We were able to extricate him from it and sent him to the hospital in an ambulance," he said.
The victim's name and condition were unavailable.
The Timber Twister, the fifth alpine coaster to open in the United States, was introduced at Spirit Mountain two summers ago. It's part of an effort to draw summer traffic to the popular winter attraction.
