The Itasca County Sheriff's Office has identified the victim of an early-morning boating accident.
Jerry Don Wydra, 73, was found in the water on First River near Egg Lake, about 11 miles from Deer River, at 3 a.m. Wednesday. He was wearing a life jacket at the time of the accident.
The Sheriff's Office received a 911 call at 1:30 a.m., saying that Wydra had not come home. He had gone out to scout duck hunting spots on Tuesday afternoon.
An autopsy is scheduled to determine the cause of death. Officers from Leech Lake Conservation and Minnesota Conservation offices assisted the Itasca County Sheriff's Office.
