Man fleeing altercation falls into Lincoln Park creek

A 26-year-old man was taken to a local hospital late Sunday afternoon after police say he fell into Miller Creek in Lincoln Park.

Police were called to the scene in the 500 block of Lincoln Park Drive just after 5 p.m. and soon located the man in the creek. He was seriously hurt, according to Duluth police Lt. Robin Roeser, but his injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

The victim said he'd had a confrontation in which someone was trying to take money from him, and police believe the man knew the person or people he encountered. He was running away from the altercation when he fell into the creek, he told police.

The man did not provide police with descriptions of anyone else involved, Roeser said. No one is in custody.
