The body of a 51-year-old man was recovered from Birch Lake near Sand Island in Babbitt on Friday afternoon, according to the St. Louis County
Sheriff's Office.
The victim reportedly was operating a small boat near a houseboat where he was staying and fell into the water. He was not wearing a life jacket. The incident was reported to authorities at 12:44 p.m., and the victim's body was located and recovered by rescue crews.
The identity of the victim is being withheld pending the notification of relatives.
