The Douglas County Sheriff's Office today reported that a 37-year-old man died while in custody in the Douglas County Jail.
According to a news release sent today by Sheriff Tom Dalbec's office, Clifton G. Walker died Friday.
According to the release, Walker said to other inmates that he was not feeling well and wanted to lie down. He later was found to be in distress, and paramedics were called to render aid.
Walker stopped breathing and officers performed CPR until paramedics arrived. Efforts to revive him failed and Walker was pronounced dead at the jail.
An autopsy was performed Saturday in Anoka County, Minn., and, according to the release, "preliminary results indicated massive internal bleeding due to a perforated ulcer that ruptured an artery in the stomach lining."
