Man dies in Bayfield County snowmobile accident

An Onalaska, Wis., man died Friday in Bayfield County from injuries from an apparent snowmobile accident.

Bayfield County 911 received word of the accident about 4 a.m. Friday, said Chief Deputy Dan Clark of the county Sheriff's Office. Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene about a quarter-mile off Touve Road in the Town of Port Wing on Snowmobile Trail 1. When officials arrived, they found that the snowmobiler had suffered traumatic head injuries and was dead.

The name of the 37-year-old man will be released after relatives are notified of his death. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is

investigating.
