An 82-year-old man died in a fire in Aurora on Wednesday afternoon after several unsuccessful attempts to rescue him.
The East Range Police Department reported that when it responded to a fire on West Second Avenue North at 12:46 p.m. Wednesday, neighbors said there was a person inside. First responders attempted to rescue the man, who was the sole occupant of the residence, but were turned back by flames and smoke and the rescue attempts were unsuccessful, according to the police department. The man hasnāt been identified pending notification of the family.
The fire doesnāt appear to be suspicious, but the Fire Marshal is investigating, according to the police department.
The Aurora, Hoyt Lakes and Palo fire departments, Aurora first responders, Hoyt Lakes Ambulance, Gilbert Police Department and U.S. Forest Service law enforcement also responded to the fire.
