Man, child injured in motorcycle vs. deer crash near Embarrass

At least one passenger was airlifted from the scene.

A man and a 5-year-old girl were injured in a motorcycle collision with a deer Thursday near Embarrass.

Darrell Williams, 52, was driving a Harley-Davidson motorcycle headed south on state Highway 135 with passenger Rosel Orth just before 10 a.m. when a deer came out of the west ditch, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. When the Harley hit the deer, both passengers were ejected from the bike.

Both victims were transported to Essentia Health-St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth. Authorities described Williams' injuries as life-threatening. Rosel Orth received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.

Gilbert Police Department, East Range Police Department, St. Louis County Sheriff's Office and Minnesota State Patrol responded to the scene.
