A 39-year-old man accused of stabbing an Iron Range man to death is being held on $1 million bail after being arraigned Thursday morning on a charge of second-degree murder.

Robert Jacob Russell III was formally charged in St. Louis County District Court in Virginia in connection with the Saturday slaying of Jamie John Drumm, 33, of Virginia.

Russell was arrested by Duluth police downtown on Tuesday night after being spotted getting out of a car.

Police say Drumm and Stephen Campbell, 25, were walking down a street when a vehicle with two men and a woman drove by. Words were exchanged and a fight ensued.

The St. Louis County medical examiner said that Drumm was stabbed five times with a sharp instrument, most likely a knife, in the torso area.
