A 39-year-old man accused of stabbing an Iron Range man to death is being held on $1 million bail after being arraigned this morning on a charge of second-degree murder.
Robert Jacob Russell III was formally charged in St. Louis County District Court in Virginia is connection with the Saturday slaying of Jamie John Drumm, 33, of Virginia.
Russell was arrested by Duluth police Tuesday night after being spotted getting out of a car in the downtown.
Police say Drumm and Stephen Campbell, 25, were walking down a street when a vehicle with two men and a woman drove by. Words were exchanged and a fight ensued.
The St. Louis County medical examiner said that Drumm was stabbed five times with a sharp instrument, most likely a knife, in the torso area.

Russell has been charged in 17 criminal cases in three counties and has convictions for first-degree burglary, second-degree assault, third-degree assault, simple robbery and a controlled-substance crime.
Russell's next court appearance is Jan. 4.
Jared William Boshey, 22, is charged with third-degree assault for allegedly assaulting Campbell during the incident. Campbell sustained a cut on his left eyebrow which needed stitches to close.
