A Carlton man made his first appearance Tuesday in State District Court in Carlton County in connection with an armed robbery at a Carlton liquor store over the weekend.
Paul Duane Mrosla, 24, faces charges of felony aggravated robbery in the first degree, felony assault in the second degree and felony terroristic threats.
Just before 10 p.m. Saturday, Carlton County 911 received a call from the clerk at Carlton's Tall Pines Liquor Store on Highway 210, reporting an armed robbery. The cashier told officers he had been robbed by an adult male, about 6 feet tall and 180 pounds, who brandished a knife and demanded money from the till, according to the criminal complaint.
Officers tracked down Mrosla using a license-plate number the cashier had written down earlier when he noticed a suspicious vehicle, the complaint said. Officers who interviewed Mrosla said he admitted committing the robbery, according to the complaint.
The Carlton County Sheriff's Office was assisted in the investigation the Minnesota State Patrol and the Fond du Lac and Cloquet police departments.
