A 29-year-old Duluth man is in police custody after attempting to rob a downtown pharmacy Wednesday afternoon.

At about 4: 20 p.m., the man entered Pasek Pharmacy, 116 W. First Street, wearing a ski mask. He told employees that he had a loaded pistol and passed an employee a note demanding morphine, Police Sgt. Steve Stracek said.

Six police squads responded to the pharmacy. Stracek said the man would not cooperate with officers' orders and was subdued with three Taser darts.

After the man was taken into custody, it was determined that he did not have a gun. Police also discovered that he had an outstanding warrant for burglarizing the Medical Arts Pharmacy, 324 W. Superior St., in 2005.
