WEST ST. PAUL, Minn. - A man was arrested Wednesday night on suspicion of making off with a Metro Transit bus in West St. Paul and driving it to Bloomington.

The suspect, who is 31 and from St. Paul, is accused of taking the Route 75 bus about 9:50 p.m. near Marie Avenue and Robert Street while the driver was on a break, according to Metro Transit spokesman Howie Padilla. No passengers were on board.
The driver alerted Metro Transit, which tracked the bus remotely as it headed west on Interstate 494.
After about eight minutes, police were able to stop the bus near 24th Avenue - between Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport and the Mall of America - and arrest the suspect without incident, Padilla said. He’s being held in the Hennepin County jail, pending charges.
