A 22-year-old Duluth man was arraigned in St. Louis County District Court on Tuesday in connection with a string of home burglaries and thefts in eastern Duluth.
Antonio Thomas Robledo is charged with three counts of first-degree burglary, three counts of theft, and the theft of a firearm.
Duluth police said Robledo said he chose the eastern part of the city to burglarize because "he knew people didn't lock their houses out east.''
According to the criminal complaint, police took Robledo into custody about 6 a.m. Saturday after he had stolen a black Audi car and crashed it at 11 Avenue East. The defendant admitted entering a home in the 3900 block of Glenwood Street and stealing a computer and a television on March 31. Robledo is accused of stealing two other automobiles and burglarizing two other homes between Oct. 7 and Saturday. He said he found keys in all three vehicles.
Robledo is also accused of stealing a shotgun and shells from a pickup truck in the area of 24 Avenue East and Second Street.

Officers recovered all three stolen vehicles and the shotgun, as well as stolen bicycles, cash and a home stereo system.
Robledo's criminal history includes convictions in Hennepin County for theft of a motor vehicle and fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle. He's previously been charged in St. Louis County with financial transaction card fraud and in Kandiyohi County with fifth-degree assault.
Robledo was being held in the St. Louis County Jail on $50,000 bail. His next court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 5.
