A house and garage in Thomson Township were engulfed in flames early Sunday morning. Around 2:02 a.m., multiple fire departments responded to a garage fire at 21 Ridge Road, according to a Carlton County Sheriff's Office news release.
Esko Fire Department was the first on the scene and crews found the garage engulfed with fire. The garage was only a few feet from the house and, aided by a steady wind, the fire quickly spread to the house.
Firefighters confirmed that all of the occupants and pets were out of the residence. The family is receiving aid from the American Red Cross.
Both the house and garage were considered total losses. The fire is being investigated by the Minnesota Fire Marshall's Office and the Carlton County Sheriff's Office. The cause is undetermined but not suspicious, the release said.
