Rep. Mike Sundin will not seek reelection

Rep. Mike Sundin, D-Esko, announced March 4, that he would not seek another term in the Minnesota Legislature.

ESKO – Rep. Mike Sundin, D-Esko, announced Friday, March 4 that he would not be seeking a sixth term as a representative for District 11A in a news release.

“I want to give my heartfelt thanks to the people of Carlton County and the surrounding areas who gave me the opportunity to serve our communities at the State Capitol," he said in the news release. "It’s been a tremendous honor to be a part of some important work at the Legislature, but it’s time for a new voice to step up in this role."

Sundin was first elected to the legislature in 2012 and had previously served on the Cloquet School Board between 1995 and 2000.

His district includes Carlton County as well as portions of Pine and St. Louis counties.

Despite making the decision not to seek another term, Sundin said he intends to see out his current term until it ends.

“We still have a great deal of important work left before us this session and I look forward to helping ensure all Minnesotans can have a brighter future,” he said.
