GRAND MARAIS — A 79-year-old Grand Marais woman was killed in an automobile crash Tuesday afternoon on Minnesota Highway 61 and County Road 14, according to a report from the Minnesota State Patrol.

Barbara Helen Wright was driving east on Highway 61 around 4:20 p.m. when she made a left turn onto County Road 14. The vehicle, a 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee Sport, then traveled across County Road 14 and struck a large pine tree with its front bumper, killing Wright.

Responding agencies included the Colvill and Hovland fire departments and first responders, as well as the Cook County Sheriff's Department and ambulance and rescue.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of "staff." Often, the "staff" byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
