Duluth Media Group journalists earn accolades

The Society of Professional Journalists awarded 16 honors to the Duluth News Tribune and Cloquet Pine Journal for 2021 coverage.

ST. PAUL — The Duluth Media Group has earned 16 awards for reporting, multimedia and opinion writing in 2021 from the Minnesota Professional Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.

The winners were announced during the 2022 Page One Awards celebration Thursday night at Como Lakeside Pavilion in St. Paul. The Page One Awards recognize the best in Minnesota journalism each year.

Duluth News Tribune journalists won 13 awards, including three first-place honors, and the Cloquet Pine Journal picked up three awards.

The Society of Professional Journalists is the oldest, largest and broadest-based organization of journalists in the U.S., according to the Minnesota SPJ website . The Minnesota chapter was founded in 1956.

The DNT placed first in general excellence, while the Pine Journal took second.
