- Damage to the Alberta Gas Chemicals plant in Riverside, ripped apart by an explosion yesterday morning, has been estimated at $5 million. At least seven plant workers and three firefighters were injured in the blast and ensuing fire.
- Twelve modern-day Vikings set sail yesterday in the Viking ship Hjemkomst, hoping to complete a historic voyage from Duluth to Norway. The ship passed under the Aerial Lift Bridge at about 3 p.m. and sailed to Knife River to load provisions before the final departure.

- Famous grand opera singer Geraldine Farrar and her company will appear this Tuesday evening at the Virginia High School auditorium. Madame Farrar will then perform with her concert company on Thursday evening at the Duluth Armory, under the local direction of Llewellyn Totman.
- The annual state convention of the Knights of Columbus will bring 150 delegates and their families to Duluth this week. The convention will open on Tuesday morning in the ballroom of the Spalding Hotel with a welcoming address by Dennis Donovan of Duluth.
