- Faculty members at the University of Minnesota Duluth and the University of Minnesota-Waseca are suing the university Board of Regents for unfair labor practices. Thomas Bacig, head negotiator for the University Education Association, said yesterday the regents have violated the Public Employee Labor Relations Act.
- Hockey fans from Wisconsin, Michigan, and Minnesota will travel to the Twin Ports Feb. 25-27 for the 15th annual National Championship Ice Hockey Tournament at Wessman Arena on the University of Wisconsin-Superior campus. About 1,600 fans are expected to attend the games.

- The Duluth Lighthouse for the Blind will enter into active business competition with manufacturers of brooms, baskets and similar articles, it was announced yesterday. Local civic organizations will be asked to appoint committees to help the Lighthouse with the business operation.
- Duluth schools, banks, and government offices will be closed today in observance of the birth of George Washington. Duluthians will observe the day with programs and entertainments, and special services will be held in churches throughout the city.
