  • The new Radisson Inn and Yacht Club on Barkers Island in Superior Bay is scheduled to open its doors May 28. The 115-room inn is located adjacent to the two-year-old Barkers Island Marina and shares the island with the S.S. Meteor Museum.
  • The U.S. Air Force officially closed the books on the Duluth Air Force Base and its 1,600 jobs on March 31. The closing shocked Duluth's economy, but evidence now shows that the base had been in declining health for over two decades.

  • The Duluth City Council yesterday adopted a resolution ordering the removal of all bath houses and refreshment stands at Minnesota Avenue and 43rd Street. A petition signed by 40 Park Point residents called the structures a nuisance and argued that they are unsafe.
  • The new Duluth and Superior city directories should be ready for delivery by July 1, according to officials of the Duluth Directory Company. Workers began canvassing in Superior yesterday and will start in Duluth as soon as the work there is finished.
