- The Bureau of Mediation Services has ruled that Spirit Mountain employees work for the city of Duluth and not the Spirit Mountain Authority. The union representing Spirit Mountain's 41 employees had requested the ruling at a hearing on April 19.
- Duluth voters go to the polls today to vote on an excess tax levy of $2 million a year for three years and a $2.5 million bond issue. The Duluth School Board requested the votes to help offset a $6 million deficit expected in 1982-83.

- Paavo Myllari, editor of the Industrialisti, a Finnish Socialist newspaper published in Duluth, was arrested yesterday by O.S. Remington, immigration inspector. The arrest is said to be the beginning of a sweeping investigation by the Department of Justice into radical elements in Duluth.
- Joseph Gabriel Pinton, the newly consecrated bishop of the Superior Catholic Diocese, will arrive in Superior this morning at the Union Station. He will be met by a delegation of diocesan clergy and taken to Sacred Heart Cathedral for the installation ceremony.
