Local architectural firms assigned to Duluth schools Long Range Facilities project

Duluth Public School officials today announced the architectural firms and construction managers assigned to the Long Range Facilities Plan projects. Representatives from the firms met with the school board at a recent Committee of the Whole meeting.

The architectural firms are local :

Architect: LHB (Duluth)

Construction Manager: Kraus-Anderson (Duluth)

Eastern Middle School: $29 Million Project

Western Middle School: $48 Million Project

Architect: SJA (Duluth)

Construction Manager: Kraus-Anderson (Duluth) & Johnson Controls (Duluth)

Lincoln/Piedmont Elementary: $18.5 Million Project (Kraus-Anderson)

Lester Park Elementary: $20 Million Project (Kraus-Anderson)

Stowe Elementary School: $4 Million Project (Johnson Controls) - Project Completed Summer 2008

Transportation Building: $2.5 Million Project (Johnson Controls)

Construction Manager: Bossardt (Minneapolis)& Johnson Controls (Duluth)

Lakewood Elementary School $3 Million Project (Johnson Controls) - Project Completed Summer 2008

Ordean High School: $57 Million Project (Bossardt)

The Historic Old Central High School and the Secondary Technical Center projects will be assigned later.

Architects will develop construction drawings and specifications in preparation for competitive bidding on each of the projects. Each project will be broken into 10 to 25 separate bid categories in order to work with as many local contractors as possible. Architects and Construction Managers will work to ensure plans meet LRFP budgets, schedules, educational specifications and established facility standards.

Construction Managers will oversee construction on site.
