The Duluth-Superior Symphony Orchestra has announced that guest soloist Sarah Lawrence is being replaced by Patrice Michaels for its Dec. 8 performance of Handel's "Messiah."
Lawrence is withdrawing in order to join the national touring company of a major Broadway show. "It is a tremendous opportunity that she could not say no to, even if it means withdrawing from a concert in her home town," said DSSO Executive Director Andrew Berryhill, "However, we are very pleased to bring in Patrice Michaels."
Michaels has been reviewed favorably. The New Yorker called her "a formidable interpretative talent," and the Boston Globe has noted her "pinpoint-accurate bravura." More information about Michaels is available at the DSSO's Web site, http://www.dsso.com .
