A fire that started in a basement damaged a home in Duluth's Lincoln Park neighborhood Sunday afternoon. The Duluth Fire Department responded to a report of a fire at 2328 W. Second St., Assistant Fire Chief Dennis Edwards said in a statement. Firefighters arrived on the scene at about 1:14 p.m. and found fire coming from a basement window and extending to the exterior of the house. Crews entered the home and quickly knocked down the fire, and remained on the scene for about an hour to ventilate smoke and prevent further damage.

The resident was home and sleeping at the time the fire was reported but was awakened by a passerby and left the home without injury.
