Because the Aerial Lift Bridge raises and lowers, it's one of many Gov. Tim Pawlenty ordered inspected after the Interstate 35-W bridge collapse.
During the inspection -- from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 11, 12, 15 and 16 -- the bridge will be down to one lane, but it will stay lowered. Cars and pedestrians will still be able to traverse it but boats won't be able to go underneath. Because the bridge will have only one lane of traffic open, drivers should allow extra time to cross.
