Pay attention to U.S. Senate candidate Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer
The December 30 Budgeteer News article on the U.S. Senate race in Minnesota listed "major" and "minor" contenders for the DFL nomination, but did not mention the candidacy of Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer.
Jack is generating excitement everywhere that he speaks. He stands out as an extraordinary candidate, with well-articulated, cogent positions on the challenges that we face.
Jack focuses on three principal issues. First, he is clear that climate change is occurring and accelerating, and that human activities are a major cause. Jack offers a clear vision of how sound policies and international cooperation can meet this great challenge. Second, Jack recognizes that the U.S. must not base its foreign policy on military might and unilateral actions. He advocates ending the Iraq war, with a timetable for withdrawal of our troops, and addressing our foreign and domestic goals that have been held hostage to Bush's military priorities and spending. Third, Jack will work to restore economic fairness and government working for the common good. Jack recognizes that the economic disparities that have emerged under the Bush presidency are bad for all of us, and that we must not tolerate government of the rich, by the rich and for the rich.
Most importantly, Jack sees how these issues are related, and how all of our challenges -- environmental, international, economic and social -- are linked.

For six years, Norm Coleman has served as a cheerleader for the failed policies of the Bush regime. Any DFL nominee must provide the voters with a clear and credible alternative to Coleman. However, Jack is much more than that. Jack presents a vision for a hopeful future.
On Jan. 23, Jack will join Al Franken, Mike Ciresi and Jim Cohen in a debate at the College of St. Scholastica (7-9 p.m.). Please come and learn.
