A large garage in Hibbing was destroyed by fire Thursday morning.
The Hibbing Fire Department reported that the 40-by-60-foot structure at 11472 Highway 37 was engulfed in flames when crews arrived about 10:15 a.m.
The owner was in the building when the fire started but escaped without injury. It took several hours to totally snuff the fire which caused an estimated $80,000 in damage, according to Bryan Fagerstrom, Hibbing Fire Marshal. He said the cause of the fire has not yet been determined but the fire does not seem to be suspicious.
Chisholm Fire and Keewatin Fire assisted in the effort.
