The Lake Superior School District board picked Duluth educator Bill Crandall as its next superintendent, just weeks after dropping the contract of former superintendent Phil Minkkinen.
Crandall is a former assistant principal at Two Harbors High School who started teaching in Duluth. The job in Two Harbors was his first as an administrator.
Since leaving Two Harbors, he worked as the principal at Barnum High School for one year and was back in the Duluth School district the past six years -- first overseeing the teaching component of residential and day treatment programs, and then as a principal for the Duluth Area Learning Center.
Crandall lives in Duluth and has two children -- a daughter who attends the University of St. Thomas and a son who attends Duluth East High School.
