Hermantown Community Schools Superintendent Kerry Juntunen was named a 2020 Administrator of Excellence by the Minnesota Association of School Administrators.
"Juntunen received this award in recognition of his leadership, concern for students, and active involvement in professional and community affairs," a news release said.
Juntunen was honored at a statewide recognition ceremony in March at the Minneapolis Marriott Northwest in Brooklyn Park.
Juntunen has been with Hermantown Community Schools since 1999. He has served as a fifth grade and sixth grade teacher, middle school dean of students, director of curriculum and assessment and middle school principal before taking over as superintendent in 2015. Juntunen is set to retire on June 30.
