GRAND RAPIDS - A 31-year-old Keewatin man was sentenced Tuesday in Itasca County District Court to 10 years of supervised probation after pleading guilty to first- and second-degree criminal sexual conduct.
John William Hillman pleaded guilty in October to committing the crimes.
He received a 91-month prison sentence for pleading guilty to first-degree criminal sexual conduct; 39 months for one count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct; and 33 months for a second count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct.
The Itasca County Attorney's office said that execution of Hillman's prison sentences was stayed as long as he follows conditions of his probation. He must serve one year in the Itasca County Jail, pay a $1,077 fine, not use or possess any alcohol or non-prescribed drugs, complete sex offender treatment, have no unsupervised contact with any female under 18 and pay $1,335.74 in restitution, among other conditions.
According to the criminal complaint, Hillman sexually penetrated the girl when she was under 13 years old.
