John Kaanta of Elk Mound, Wis., won one Late Model feature and finished second in the other at the Amsoil Twin Ports Twin 25s on Sunday night at Amsoil Speedway in Superior.
Kaanta would have received a $1,000 bonus for winning both features, in addition to the $1,500 top prize award in each race, but he couldn't hold off Brady Smith of Solon Springs in the first feature. Both drivers started the second feature deep in the field, in the 16th and 17th spots, but that didn't keep Kaanta from racing to the win while Smith took sixth. Kaanta did receive a $500 bonus for being the top overall finisher of the two features.
In other racing action, Deven VanHouse of Silver Bay won in Midwest Modifieds and Craig Horak of Grand Marais took the checkered flag in Pure Stocks.
It was the first time the Twin 25s were held at Amsoil Speedway instead of the traditional stop at Proctor Speedway, and 92 cars comprised the field, including 32 Late Models.
