An ATV accident in Crane Lake Friday night resulted in injuries to the 8-year old driver and an adult passenger.

The boy, Austin Sokoloski was operating the side-by-side Polaris Ranger all-terrain vehicle about 9:30 p.m. Friday near 4074 Crane Lake Road when it struck a pothole in the road causing the ATV to roll and eject its two adult passengers, according to the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office.

One passenger, Mark Anderson, 42, sustained head injuries and was flown by helicopter to St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth were he reportedly was in critical condition Saturday. Sokoloski was taken to Essentia Health St. Mary's Medical Center where he was listed in stable condition in the pediatrics unit. The other passenger, Mary Anderson, 42, received minor injuries.
