A woman jogging on the Mesabi Trail in Hibbing says she was tackled and held to the ground Saturday afternoon by a man who fled when another person approached.
Hibbing police reported the incident Tuesday, saying it happened about 3 p.m. Saturday on the recreational trail near the 16th Avenue East entrance in the city.
The jogger told police she had passed the same man a few minutes earlier when he had been sitting along the trail. The man fled when another walker approached. Police were called and searched the area but found no one.
Hibbing police are requesting the public’s help in identifying the suspect who was described as being in his 20s to 30s with straight, ear-length brown hair. The victim did not request any medical attention. Anyone with information that may help identify the assailant can contact the Police Department at (218) 263-3601 during business hours or call 911.
