Jean Catherine Hockin Falconer died Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2011, in Mesa, Ariz.

She was born in Duluth on March 27, 1918, to Cecil and Margaret Hockin. She attended school in Duluth, graduating from Duluth Central High School. She worked for Wahls Department store. On Nov. 9, 1946, she married Ian Brodie Falconer. They had two children, Barbie and Peggie.

In 1952, the family moved to Southern California where Jean worked in hospitals as a medical records librarian. Jean and Ian retired to Mesa in 1986, and enjoyed making friends at Fountain of the Sun and taking road trips.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband in 2004; and by her daughter, Peggie, in 1996.

She is survived by her daughter, Barbie (Jim) Murphy; granddaughter Heather (Michael) Clark; and Todd (Alissa) Murphy; and three great-grandchildren, Kasey, Holden, and Judah Clark. Duluth survivors include sister-in-law Janet Falconer Petersen; and nieces Edna Hockin Ciurleo and Jean Petersen McCall. Jean is also survived by her brother, Bruce (Charlotte) Hockin, of Hoyt Lakes; and numerous nieces and nephews.
