* Keep peeled potatoes submerged in water so they don't turn brown.
* Use the flat of a knife to smash garlic cloves easily.
* Crack eggs on a flat surface to avoid getting broken shells in your food. But if it does happen, scoop shell fragments out with the edge of the shell.
* Wash your hands after handling eggs because of the danger of salmonella.
