An independent review of Ironworld Development Corp.'s finances found no evidence of fraud or financial mismanagement at the Minnesota Discovery Center in Chisholm.
But the review did result in 35 observations and recommendations to improve monitoring, control and communication of financial information among stakeholders.
The relatively clean bill of health could help the center reopen.
"With these recommendations in hand, Iron Range Resources will work with Ironworld Development Corp. to reopen the facility with a viable operating plan," Sandy Layman, Iron Range Resources commissioner, said in a statement issued Thursday.
Ironworld temporarily closed its history and cultural center on Nov. 20 after notifying Iron Range Resources that it was operating with a deficit. Iron Range Resources owns the buildings that house the center and many of its collections.
