An International Falls man, accused of burglarizing the Lincoln Park/West End home of a couple that he knew, was arraigned in St. Louis County District Court on Monday.
Rico Keshon Gause, 34, is charged with first- and second-degree burglary in connection with the Thanksgiving incident on the 2200 block of West Fourth Street in Duluth.
According to the criminal complaint, the occupants of the home saw Gause near their home Thanksgiving morning and told him they were leaving for the weekend. They returned shortly after leaving because they had forgotten something and found their back door open.
The man of the house allegedly chased Gause out of the house and punched the suspect at least once in the face before he fled. A responding police officer apprehended Gause within four blocks of the burglarized home. The victims identified Gause as the person who had been in their home.
Court records indicate that Gause has prior convictions for sale of a controlled substance in Koochiching County and for possessing more than 1.4 grams of marijuana in a motor vehicle in Carlton County.
