St. Louis County is developing a new comprehensive land-use plan that will guide development through 2035, and county officials are seeking public input.
Existing land-use plans for areas where the county has authority - generally outside incorporated cities and a few larger townships - date back to the 1970s and 1980s and in many cases are obsolete.
Public “workshops” on the proposed plans are set for Aug. 21 from 4-8 p.m. at the County Public Works Building in Virginia; Aug. 22 from 1-7 p.m. in the County Public Works Building, in Ely; Aug. 23 from 1-7 p.m. in the American Legion in Orr; and Aug. 24, from 1-7 p.m. in the county Public Works and Transportation Complex, 4787 Midway Road, Pike Lake.
County officials said the plan will provide “a vision and roadmap for the county’s future policy decisions on land use, public investment, infrastructure improvements and intergovernmental cooperation, all with the goal of fostering a vibrant and healthy county.”
