The Minnesota State Patrol has released identities of the two drivers involved in a fatal collision on Midway Road Sunday afternoon.
The wreck claimed the life of David R. Sjolund, 63, of Leesburg, Fla., and left Julia C. Saloum, 27, of Duluth, hospitalized at St. Mary's Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, according to an incident report.
Sjolund was reportedly driving a 2005 Suzuki utility vehicle northbound in the southbound lane of Midway Road, and struck Saloum's southbound 2005 Chevrolet Impala head-on. No alcohol was detected in either driver's systems.
The accident occurred at 3:43 p.m. Sunday at 2850 Midway Road.
