The Duluth Huskies' Northwoods League game Monday against the visiting Mankato MoonDogs was postponed because of rain and will be made up as part of a doubleheader starting at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Wade Stadium. Each game is scheduled for seven innings.
The Huskies (2-2) were set to play the MoonDogs (2-2) before a heavy rain fell about a half hour before Monday's game, drenching the infield and leaving large puddles. It would have taken too long to prepare the field for baseball, so the game was called.
The Huskies are coming off a 6-4 loss Sunday to the Alexandria Beetles and are expected to send Georgia Tech University freshman Zach Von Tersch to the mound in today's opener against Mankato's Luke Vine.
Tuesday's forecast looks favorable for baseball, with fans getting two games for the price of one. Tuesday is also Hunger Awareness Night. Fans who bring two canned goods will receive a free general admission ticket.
