How to get your books

Because you can't wander through the downtown Duluth Public Library's stacks between March 17 and the middle of May, here are a few options for getting your hands on the library's books.

Because you can't wander through the downtown Duluth Public Library's stacks between March 17 and the middle of May, here are a few options for getting your hands on the library's books.

* The two other Duluth library branches will be open six days a week, instead of five.

Their hours are:

1 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday and Thursday

10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday

10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

The Mount Royal branch is at 105 Mount Royal Shopping Circle. Call 730-4290. The West Duluth branch is at 5830 Grand Ave. Call 730-4280. You can use many of the services the library offers through its Web site at http://www.duluth.lib.mn.us/index.html . Many reference databases are available through the library's site. With a library card, you can also reserve books and choose which branch you would like to pick them up at.

* The downtown library will have circulation staff members available to find and check out books for patrons and help them do research. The makeshift library will mainly operate on the Michigan Street level.
