Proctor's annual Hoghead Festival continues Friday and Saturday. Among the events:
The Proctor Police Department will host a free outdoor movie - "The Secret Life of Pets" - at the Proctor Golf Course at dusk Friday (about 8 p.m.) If the weather doesn't cooperate, the movie will be shown at the Proctor Community Center.
On Saturday, there will be a pancake breakfast from 7:30-11 a.m. at the community center, with the Green & White Walk/Run at 8 a.m. and Hylla 5K run at 9 a.m.
The annual Hoghead Parade starts at noon downtown, with kids' games and activities from noon to 4 p.m. downtown, a street dance in the evening at the Powerhouse Bar, and fireworks at 9:45 p.m.
At 2 p.m. Saturday at the Proctor Area Historical Society Museum, Proctor will be proclaimed a "Yellow Ribbon Community" by the state of Minnesota. The "Beyond the Yellow Ribbon" website says the honor recognizes a community for its work to create a "comprehensive network that connects and coordinates agencies, organizations, resources and employers for the purpose of proactively supporting service members and military families."
