The new supervisor of the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest in Wisconsin won't have to move far. Jeanne Higgins, who has served as the forest's deputy supervisor since 2005, has been named to the top post. She takes the job starting April 29.
Before coming to the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, Higgins worked in Idaho on the Nez Perce National Forest as the acting deputy forest supervisor and the Bitterroot National Forest in Montana as a district ranger. Higgins served in several positions throughout many western Na-tional Forests including operations forester and environmental coordinator. She earned a bache-lor's degree in forest resource management at the University of Idaho in 1988.
Higgins and her husband, Bruce, live in Phillips. Higgins replaces Anne Archie, who left the su-pervisor's job earlier this year for a position in New Hampshire.
